PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have turned over #LearnSmart kits and Smart Bro connectivity units to EdukSine, a DOST-funded project and a social enterprise that champions transformative education through film, culture, and the arts.
EdukSine works to uplift the lives of many filmmakers and producers who need support and means to make their films accessible to the masses.
In line with their aim to use film education to elicit critical thinking and social transformation, the organization has tapped PLDT and Smart as partners to help bolster this meaningful advocacy.
“EdukSine aims to become the most accessible and affordable streaming platform for all independent films, and that accessibility includes all ages, in all areas in the country. We always believe in film education and education in film, especially for the youth. That’s why, we’re very grateful for PLDT and Smart for LearnSmart Kits. Following our vision and mission to become accessible, adding these amazing innovation from PLDT Smart makes our job a whole lot easier!,” said Romae Chanice Marquez, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of EdukSine.
Part of their mission is to actively bring the films to the different last-mile areas in the country. With PLDT and Smart’s support in providing more learning resources through the LearnSmart kits and connectivity devices, the group would help in preserving the very fabric of Filipino culture, values, and make impacts on the promotion of indie Filipino films.
PLDT and Smart’s support for the advocacy of EdukSine highlights its unwavering commitment to promoting digital inclusion, further contributing to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly UN SDG #4 of providing quality education.
