At the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11, Samsung Electronics unveiled its latest innovations – Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, and Galaxy Watch4 Series, setting the new standard for mobile experiences.
In order for users to get to know these groundbreaking products better, Samsung Newsroom spoke with several Samsung executives to learn about innovations of the latest Galaxy devices and the strategy that went into their development.
Among the questions addressed is how Samsung improved the durability of the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, which are now water-resistant foldable smartphones with IPX8 rating.
Executive Vice President and Head of the Flagship Product R&D Team, Mobile Communications Business Dr. Won-Joon Choi shared that Samsung has “increased the durability of our flexible displays by about 80 percent compared to the previous foldable by redesigning the layer structure and using a new protective film.”
The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G also are protected by Armor Aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus, Samsung’s strongest aluminum frame, and toughest glass material respectively.
On the other hand, Executive Vice President and Head of Software Platform Team, Mobile Communications Business Dr. Janghyun Yoon shared that the Galaxy Watch4 Series is now equipped with Samsung’s most advanced sensor technology ever in order to deliver the most comprehensive health experience yet. “Galaxy Watch4 users can monitor their Blood Pressure, detect an AFib irregular heartbeat, measure their Blood Oxygen level, and even calculate their Body Composition, anytime, anywhere.”

Safe Samsung Shopping
Health and safety protocols are strictly followed in Samsung Experience Stores to keep consumers and employees safe. Adhering to the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, Samsung has limited the number of its customers to 50% capacity, implemented the mandatory use of face masks and face shields, and performs frequent sanitation in all stores.
Samsung Experience Stores also have unique QR health declaration codes to promote a safe and contactless contact tracing process. Product demonstrations are done side-by-side instead of face-to-face while keeping the required safe distance of one (1) meter to make sure everyone is socially distanced.
