Spare yourself from the “zoombarassment” and use a headphone during those online meetings. But is the Logitech H370 a good choice? We give the GOOD bits an UP and the BAD ones a DOWN!

Ah 2020, the year when most of us spent our lives online, forced to stay inside our homes holed up like rats in what was coincidentally the Year of the Rat.

With all those social/physical distancing protocols in place, we’ve learned to do nearly everything online via Zoom calls, Google Hangouts  or Facetime from school classes, work meetings, live broadcasts of launch events, happy hour, all sorts of parties.

Its been more than a year since the first ECQ but with the number of COVID-19 cases still going up it looks like online meetings are still going to be the norm for the next few months—or (God Forbid!) the remainder of the year.

So unless you want to be among those who keep screaming, “Can you hear me?” or forget to mute and let everyone hear the lovely crowd/pet noises in your home, its time add one crucial upgrade to your work/study from home setup.

I’ve never thought about getting a separate headset for online meetings until that time I had to ask a few questions during an interview. And yes, I forgot to unmute first and when I did unmute I began screaming (thinking that the other person still couldn’t hear me) the moderator thought I was already mad about the event going a bit too long.

So the next day, I got this Logitech H370 USB Computer Headset. Although I already had a few headphones/earphones but I wanted something with a mic—a mic that I could actually see. Hold and adjust—also I think it made me look a bit more professional—or at least like someone who is really listening to the meeting.

The Logitech H370 is a USB Computer Headset with Noise-Cancelling Microphone, Digital Quality Sound, Plug and Play. Because it has a USB connector this is specifically designed for PC/Laptop use although I found a cool way to be able to use it with your smartphone as well. Read below for the tip.

Here’s our Ups and Downs review of the Logitech H370 Headset

Just like other headsets with this form factor, it comes in a blister package instead of a box. It slides easily off to reveal the headphones and some user documentation. Its reusable and you could store your headset in it after every use until you get a headset stand.

The H370 gets an UP for its form factor and design which features a lightweight headband with swivel-mounted foam ear cushions provide hours of audio comfort. I like that you can easily buy those foam ear cushions should you need an extra for replacement.

The headband is adjustable enough for most people, and you can slide the arms to find the best fit. It’s made of light plastic so you can wear it for hours without feeling the weight.

The package contains the headphones and a quick guide

Unfortunately, if you have a slightly bigger than average head size, even the max adjustment might not fit you comfortably, so its something you still have to consider.

The microphone is attached on the left side and is flexible and you could bend it to find the best position for better voice capture and background noise reduction. When not in use, you could simply lift it back up so it wouldn’t get in the way. Again it gets an UP for convenience.

The headset features a USB-A connector that plugs right into your computer and the Logitech H370 again gets another UP for its ease of installation. All you have to do is plug it in a USB-A port and you are good to go. As I mentioned I was also able to use it with my smartphone. All you need is this USB A- to USB C or micro USB adaptor.

Now you might find the 7.87ft cable a bit too long, but it actually serves a purpose and that is to allow you to stand up and stretch a bit during those long meetings without having to remove the headset and miss a part of the conversation. And for that it gets another UP.

You can also find Simple in-line controls on the headset cord that let you adjust the volume or mute calls without disruption—no more fumbling on the computer just to find and press the mute button!

As for sound quality, the Logitech H370 supports enhanced digital audio for crisp clear calls and even when used for music and games—UP. Volume is loud enough without fear of damaging your ears.

So what are the DOWN’s for the Logitech H370? There isn’t much actually, unless as I mentioned you’ve got a bigger head diameter than ordinary, it wouldn’t be as comfortable to use. The design is also a bit of a DOWN as it is looks like any other headset and there are no other color options except for black. As for build quality, while it looks durable enough, this headset still needs to be stored properly when not in use as the cable could get easily tangled and I don’t think it would survive if you sit on it or bend it way too much.

The H370 is a fairly good choice for headset for those looking to improve their work from home setup. Sound quality and volume is good and the microphone does a decent job of noise canceling. Its also comfortable to wear for long periods of time and because its wired you don’t have to worry about having to charge it.

The Logitech H370 is priced at P1650, and is officially available here in the Philippines via Logitech’s authorized retail partners in malls and online via its official shop on Lazada and Shopee.
