Sony’s New 1000X THE COLLEXION Proves Premium Audio Is Not Just about Great Sound

For years, the conversation around flagship headphones has been predictable. Better active noise canceling. Longer battery life. Smarter AI features. More immersive audio.
Sony believes there’s another ingredient that’s just as important.

Craftsmanship.
Officially unveiled in the Philippines, the new 1000X THE COLLEXION expands Sony’s award-winning 1000X lineup with a product that places equal emphasis on refined design, all-day comfort, and premium materials without compromising the audio performance the series has become known for over the past decade.
The launch also marks the 10th anniversary of Sony’s legendary 1000X series, which first debuted with the MDR-1000X in 2016. Rather than simply introducing another pair of wireless headphones, Sony positions the 1000X THE COLLEXION as a new expression of the series—one that blends craftsmanship with advanced listening technologies.

That philosophy is immediately reflected in the design. Premium metal detailing, a matte sandblasted finish, and refined faux leather developed over two years give the headphones a clean, understated appearance. The ergonomic structure, wider cushioned headband, and generously sized earcups are engineered for extended listening sessions, proving that comfort remains one of the most overlooked aspects of premium personal audio.
Under the hood, Sony equips the headphones with a newly developed bespoke driver designed to deliver a spacious soundstage, clearer instrument separation, and natural vocals. The 1000X THE COLLEXION also becomes the first Sony headphones to feature Edge AI-powered DSEE Ultimate, restoring lost detail in compressed music files in real time, while enhanced 360 Reality Audio Upmix creates a more immersive experience across music, movies, and games.

Sony also carries over many of the technologies that have defined the 1000X series, including its acclaimed adaptive noise-canceling system, AI-enhanced call quality, multipoint connectivity, LE Audio support, and up to 24 hours of battery life.
The Philippine launch reflected the product’s premium positioning. Instead of a conventional technology presentation, Sony transformed the evening into an immersive showcase celebrating the intersection of sound, design, and modern luxury. Guests experienced a ballet-led product reveal, live musical performances, interactive product demonstrations, and curated installations highlighting both the engineering and craftsmanship behind the headphones.

One of the evening’s highlights was the “Talk That Talk” panel discussion moderated by Rammy Bitong. Joining the conversation were renowned fashion designer Rajo Laurel, creative director Daryl Chang, entrepreneur and lifestyle personality Mika Lagdameo, and Archie Carrasco, Chairman and CEO of AGC Power Holdings Corp., who explored how music influences creativity, productivity, entrepreneurship, and self-expression.

Interactive spaces such as the Tech Showcase Lounge and the immersive Soundcapes booth allowed guests to experience the headphones firsthand, demonstrating how Sony’s latest technologies translate into real-world listening experiences.
Available in Black and White, the Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION is now available at Sony Centres and authorized Sony dealers nationwide for ₱36,999.

After a decade of leading conversations around premium wireless audio, Sony’s latest release suggests that the future of flagship headphones may not simply be about adding more technology. It may also be about refining how we experience it.
