PLDT’s wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) sees SIM registration as key to improving its performance in 2023, alongside delivering rewarding and dynamic experiences to its customers.
“In the coming year for Individual Wireless, we are looking at how we can have more rewarding and dynamic digital experiences and extending these experiences beyond just the mobile phone. Our promise is to bring and deliver epic experiences for all our mobile customers,” said Francis E. Flores, Head of Consumer Wireless Business-Individual at Smart.
Key to delivering these compelling offers and exciting experiences is Smart’s superior mobile network, according to Flores.
Philippines’ Fastest and Best Mobile Network
For the second consecutive reporting period, Smart has been recognized as the Philippines’ Fastest and Best Mobile Network for Q3-Q4 2022 by Ookla, the global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence.
“It is through this superior network that we have been able to roll out feature-packed offers, such as Smart Prepaid’s Power All promos and TNT’s Sulit Affordaloads and Doble Giga+ offers, relevant to value-seeking Filipinos,” said Flores.
“It also enables us to go beyond telco and deliver epic lifestyle experiences attuned to the passions of our subscribers,” he added.
Recently, Smart launched ‘Smart Live,’ giving subscribers first dibs access to perks in the country’s most epic happenings – from concerts, sports events and parties. Open to all Smart and TNT subscribers, ‘Smart Live’ gives customers privileges such as early ticket access, eligibility for discounts and raffle promos, express lanes, and other on-ground activities.
Smart has also boosted its Smart LiveStream App (previously GigaPlay App), a video streaming app exclusive to Smart subscribers that showcases premium music events and top sports, including live games of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, NBA, Gilas, UAAP, and PVL.
Leader in SIM Registration
Flores also emphasized that the ongoing SIM Registration campaign, whose April deadline looms, will be critical to Smart’s performance this year.
“SIM registration is very important for us. If we want to further grow, we have to be the leader in SIM registration. And from the start, we have always led. Right now, we are 5 million registrants ahead of our nearest competitor,” Flores said, adding that among those who have had their SIMs registered, Smart has also noted a 5% increase in ARPU.
“Definitely, the brand or business that will do a better job in SIM registration will have a bigger competitive advantage this year. That is why we have invested a lot of resources in ensuring that we are ahead of our competition when it comes to SIM registration and enabling our subscribers to Live More Today,” said Flores.
As the April 26 deadline for SIM Registration draws closer, Smart continues to ramp-up its efforts to encourage subscribers to register their SIMs. This includes rolling out assisted SIM Registration booths all over the Philippines in close collaboration with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the inter-agency committee on remote areas registration, other public telecommunications entities, and other partners.
New and existing Smart Prepaid and TNT subscribers may also visit PLDT and Smart stores, or access Smart’s SIM registration portal through https://www.smart.com.ph/simreg; Postpaid users can simply text YES to 5858, while Enterprise customers can confirm their registration through their authorized representatives.
