Is the MPL’s Official Tournament phone both a beauty and a performance beast?

Some phones play games. Others dominate them. The Infinix GT 30 Pro? It makes the leaderboard its home address.

With its official role in MPL Season 16 and a launch timed perfectly for the Philippine esports boom, the Infinix GT 30 Pro steps into the spotlight as more than just a midrange powerhouse. It’s the embodiment of how far Infinix’s GT Series has evolved—from a quiet contender to a tournament-tested champion trusted by pros, campus leagues, and weekend warriors alike.

And the specs back it up. Its All-Day 120FPS System isn’t marketing fluff but a performance promise. Whether you’re grinding ranked in Mobile Legends or on your third hour of Call of Duty, the GT 30 Pro keeps the frame rate steady, the thermals under control, and your gameplay smooth. Pair that with tactile GT Triggers built into the frame, and you’re holding a true gaming weapon that’s ready the second you are.

This isn’t just about specs or price tags anymore. The Infinix GT 30 Pro shows that in 2025, the real flex isn’t spending more—it’s knowing better.

From the Box to the Battlefield

The unboxing experience of the GT 30 Pro hints at its identity from the get-go. The packaging proudly displays its MPL Official Tournament Phone branding—clear validation of its competitive pedigree. Inside the box, you’ll find a surprisingly generous cache including:

  • The GT 30 Pro unit (Shadow Ash variant)
  • A transparent MagCase with thermal optimization and magnetic compatibility
  • The MagCharge Cooler, a magnetic wireless charging fan with RGB animation and active cooling
  • USB-C charging cable
  • 45W fast charger
  • SIM ejector tool
  • Quick guide and warranty documentation

This bundled Gaming Kit (MagCharge Cooler and MagCase) combo alone already positions the Infinix GT 30 Pro ahead of many competitors in terms of value, especially for gamers who usually have to buy accessories separately.

This year’s GT 30 Pro introduces three distinct looks—and I must say I  the Shadow Ash variant we have, is the perfect choice for gamers who prefer subtle sophistication. With clean white accents and a matte gunmetal finish, it offers a minimalist yet modern vibe that’s easy to match with daily fits, without losing that tech-forward appeal.

The rest of the lineup covers different styles of expression. Blade White stays crisp and classic, while Dark Flare turns things up with RGB lighting and dynamic patterns. Infinix’s “Mechanical Light Waves” system lights up on calls, notifications, charging, and certain in-game moments, especially on the Dark Flare model—great for players who like a bit more visual energy on their device.

Exploring the GT 30 Pro

In hand, the GT 30 Pro delivers a solid feel with gamer-friendly ergonomics. On the right side, you’ll find the volume rocker and power button, both easy to reach even during intense landscape gaming. The bottom houses the USB-C port, a speaker grille, and the SIM tray, while the top side is mostly clean except for the second speaker port, helping deliver stereo audio.

Around the back, the star of the show is the RGB back panel (Mechanical Light Waves) paired with the rear camera module that subtly reflects the GT Series’ esports aesthetic. Despite all the gamer flair, it remains surprisingly slim and manageable in-hand, even with the MagCase attached.

Under the Hood: Display, Audio, Camera, and Power

The Infinix GT 30 Pro sports a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 1.5K resolution and an ultra-fluid 144Hz refresh rate—great not only for gaming, but also for binge-watching or doomscrolling with less eye strain. Peak brightness and clarity are solid, and the higher touch sampling rate helps when you need precision inputs in fast-paced matches.

Audio is another strong point. Dual speakers with DTS support ensure that sound cues in games come through loud and spatially accurate. Whether you’re tracking enemy footsteps or vibing to victory music, the stereo setup adds real immersion even without the earphones.

On the camera front, it’s a capable setup for casual shooters: a 108MP main sensor paired with an 8MP wide-angle lens at the back, and a 32MP front cam. While photography isn’t its headline feature, it performs reliably in daylight and can handle quick social uploads.

Powering it all is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset, paired with up to 24GB extended RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. This combination, along with LPDDR5X memory and the 3D Vapor Cloud Chamber cooling system, ensures that the phone stays cool and lag-free, even in prolonged high-performance use.

Battery life is promising too. The 5500mAh capacity is built for endurance, and the bundled 45W fast charger tops you up quickly without overheating. Combined with the MagCharge Cooler’s wireless charging, you’re covered whether you’re playing, streaming, or multitasking.

The All-Day 120FPS System: Full Power, All the Time

At the heart of this phone’s gaming appeal is the All-Day 120FPS System. When used with the MagCharge Cooler and original Infinix charger, this setup ensures sustained frame rates with efficient thermal performance and zero clutter. The ring-shaped airflow design keeps heat away from your hands during marathon sessions.

It’s not just about cooling, either. With synchronized lighting effects and a single-cable design, this ecosystem offers ergonomic upgrades that genuinely elevate mobile gaming. And thanks to the 3D vapor chamber and advanced heat dissipation materials, you can stay in turbo mode without worrying about thermal throttling.

The software side holds up too, with support for ray tracing in compatible games—bringing high-end reflections, shadows, and lighting effects typically reserved for desktop GPUs into your palm.

Here’s the kicker: the Infinix GT 30 Pro has official 120FPS or higher certification for:

  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB)
  • PUBG
  • Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM)
  • Arena of Valor (ROV)Honor of Kings (HOK)
  • Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI)
  • Standoff 2 (at 144FPS!)

Console-Level Controls, with the GT Triggers

Another highlight: the GT Trigger system. These capacitive shoulder buttons may look minimal, but they perform like hardware-grade gaming inputs. Customizable through Infinix’s X-Boost software, they allow for ultra-fast action mapping, whether it’s launching a skill in MLBB or executing crouch-shot combos in CODM.

A long press on both triggers even launches your preset game instantly—a subtle but smart quality-of-life feature. Outside of gaming, the triggers can serve as handy shortcuts for snapping photos or launching apps.

So Far, So Smooth

We’ve only had a few days with the GT 30 Pro, but initial impressions? It’s living up to the hype—quietly, confidently. Unlike other phones that over promise on thermal management or gaming modes, the GT 30 Pro’s performance so far has been stable, cool to the touch, and delightfully responsive. There’s a level of polish here that feels like a turning point for Infinix.

Battery life (thanks to the 5500mAh capacity) has been solid across back-to-back sessions, and the display—at 1.5K resolution—is both sharp and immersive. No unnecessary frills, just features that make sense.

A Side Note on Esports Cred

Infinix’s growing presence in the Philippine gaming scene isn’t just a branding play. From hosting the Infinix Campus Cup (XCC) to their front-and-center involvement in MPL Season 15 and now 16, the GT Series isn’t just being marketed to gamers—it’s being used by them. The GT 30 Pro’s debut at the MPL Playoffs saw Team Liquid PH taking home their GT Champion Sets, including this very device.

It’s a small detail, but it reflects the kind of legitimacy many gaming phones only aspire to.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: The Infinix GT 30 Pro isn’t a radical reinvention of mobile gaming—but that’s what makes it so compelling. It’s an iteration done right. A gaming phone that doesn’t shout specs for clout but instead delivers on the things that matter: stable frame rates, smart cooling, good controls, and impressive design.

As we head closer to the official launch, we’ll be putting it through more intensive testing and gameplay scenarios. But for now? Consider us intrigued—and cautiously impressed.

Stay tuned for the full review as we find out if this GT can really go the distance.
