Why Settle for Cookie-Cutter Plans When You Can Build Your Own?
Smart just dropped KiQ (pronounced “kick”)—the Philippines’ first all-app telco that puts your plan in your hands. Create it. Tweak it. Activate it. All without ever stepping into a store or talking to customer service.
A Telco in Your Pocket
KiQ’s most visible shift from traditional prepaid or postpaid plans is its Slider Interface. Inside the app, you can adjust data allocation, decide if calls and texts are included, and set the validity period based on your actual usage patterns. You also get the option to choose your own number—something usually reserved for VIP or vanity plans.

The interface is built to feel more like customizing a dashboard than filling out a telco form, making it accessible for casual users but flexible enough for those who like to micro-manage their usage.
Filipino Gen Zs are redefining how they live, share, and stay connected. With KiQ, we’re giving them a mobile experience that puts them in full control — no wasted data, no unnecessary add-ons, just total freedom and flexibility. This is what the future of mobile looks like,” said Anastacio “Boy” R. Martirez, Smart Chief Operating Officer.
Faster Setup, Less Friction
KiQ also debuts Smart’s QR-less eSIM activation—a small but meaningful improvement for onboarding. Instead of waiting for an email or scanning a QR code, you download and activate the eSIM directly from the app into your phone’s settings. The eSIM costs ₱99, and once registered, your service is live in minutes.
Both iOS and Android users can install the app from their respective app stores, making the entry point as wide as possible.
Built for High-Density Connectivity
One of the more interesting promises here is prioritized network access in crowded areas. Whether it’s a music festival, a sports arena, or a packed university campus, KiQ aims to maintain stable speeds where demand for bandwidth is highest. This addresses one of the most common complaints during large events, where even sending a message can feel impossible.
Small Data Packs, Big Control
Beyond customizable plans, KiQ also sells data packs starting at ₱30—ideal for quick boosts without overpaying for an oversized bundle. Numbers use the 0883 prefix, a small branding touch that could appeal to users who want consistent or aesthetic number sequences.
Here is a list of the plans:
- KIQ ALL U CAN – Unlimited data, minutes, SMS valid for 28 days for PHP 940
- KIQ AZZ – 50GB data, 35 minutes calls, 350 SMS valid for 28 days for PHP 350
- KIQ ERR – 12GB data, 10 minutes calls, 100 SMS valid for 7 days for PHP 100
- KIQ YUM – 5GB data, 5 minutes calls, 50 SMS valid 3 days for PHP 50
- KIQ START – 2GB data, 3 minutes call, 30 SMS for PHP 30
The Bigger Picture
From a market perspective, KiQ is part of a broader telco trend toward self-service, app-managed subscriptions. By decoupling plan creation from physical stores and long-term contracts, Smart is betting that future users—particularly digital natives—will prefer to manage connectivity the same way they manage streaming subscriptions or online shopping: instantly, on their own terms.

If executed well, KiQ could signal the beginning of a modular telco ecosystem in the Philippines, where plans are as easy to adjust as a Spotify playlist. It’s a smart play, but its success will depend on two things: the stability of Smart’s network under high-traffic conditions and how aggressively they expand features inside the app.
“We’re not just launching a new mobile brand, we’re revolutionizing the telco industry with a game-changing experience attuned to the next generation of mobile users. We invite Filipino Gen Zs to take control, express themselves, and embrace mobile freedom with KiQ,” said Martirez.
